An Elegant Castle Durrow Wedding
A Romantic Irish Estate Celebration

Aisling & John
Aisling & John’s Castle Durrow wedding in Co. Laois was the most beautiful autumn celebration — elegant, relaxed, and filled with genuine warmth from start to finish. Set within the stunning grounds of Castle Durrow Country House Hotel, their day had that perfect balance of classic Irish country house charm and modern romance.
What made this wedding especially meaningful to me was the family connection. Over the years, I’ve had the honour of photographing all three sons’ weddings in this wonderful family — and John, the youngest, was the final chapter. Seeing familiar faces again, capturing proud parent moments one last time, and documenting brothers now all married themselves made this Castle Durrow wedding feel truly full-circle.

Castle Durrow weddings are always full of charm, and Aisling & John’s celebration was the perfect example of how magical this venue can be in the autumn season.
Castle Durrow is one of my favourite venues to photograph in Ireland. As a Castle Durrow wedding photographer, I love how everything flows naturally here — from morning preparations in the elegant bedrooms, to ceremonies filled with light, to portraits in the gardens, and on to a candlelit reception without ever needing to leave the estate.
Autumn at Castle Durrow is particularly magical. The tree-lined entrance turns golden, the gardens glow with warm colour, and the softer seasonal light creates the most romantic atmosphere for portraits. It’s easy to see why so many couples choose Castle Durrow for their wedding day.

MY HIGHLIGHTS
Golden autumn colours throughout the Castle Durrow grounds, an emotional ceremony, relaxed couple portraits on the estate, and the most joyful evening celebrations — from heartfelt speeches to dancing and sparklers. This was a wedding filled with love, laughter, and the kind of family energy that makes storytelling photography so meaningful.
The Setting: Castle Durrow, Co. Laois
Castle Durrow Country House Hotel is one of Ireland’s most elegant country estate wedding venues.
Nestled in the heart of Co. Laois, the property is approached by a sweeping tree-lined driveway that instantly sets the tone for a timeless celebration.
The 18th-century manor house, manicured gardens, and classic interiors create the perfect backdrop for a refined yet relaxed Castle Durrow wedding.
From the grand staircase inside the house to the soft natural light that fills the reception rooms, every corner of Castle Durrow offers something beautiful to photograph.
In autumn especially, the estate transforms into rich golden tones, making it an unforgettable setting for romantic portraits.
As a Castle Durrow wedding photographer, I always love capturing the venue details before the day unfolds — the quiet gardens, the architecture, and those small touches that give each wedding gallery a true sense of place.

The Morning Prep
Morning preparations at Castle Durrow are always calm and beautifully lit.
Aisling got ready surrounded by her closest family and friends, with soft natural light pouring through the windows — perfect for capturing those quiet in-between moments.
Meanwhile, John’s morning was full of laughter and anticipation as the final brother prepared for his walk down the aisle.

Take me to the Church
The ceremony was heartfelt and emotional — the kind where you can feel the excitement in the room before the bride even walks in.
There were proud smiles, a few happy tears, and that incredible moment of relief and joy once they were officially married.
Just the Two of Us
After the ceremony, we took a relaxed stroll through the Castle Durrow grounds for portraits.
This is where the venue truly shines. Within a short walk, you have elegant gardens, tree-lined pathways, timeless stone architecture, and beautiful indoor options if needed.
The autumn colours made everything feel rich and romantic — the perfect setting for natural, unposed portraits.

Family, Friends & Wedding Party Fun
Photographing the group portraits was particularly special for me, as I’ve documented this family’s milestones for years.
There’s something so powerful about capturing siblings now standing side by side as married couples themselves.
The laughter was effortless, the energy was joyful, and these are the images that will become part of their family history.

Speeches & Champagne Toasts
The drinks reception at Castle Durrow was filled with laughter, hugs, and heartfelt speeches delivered before dinner
— a lovely way to gather everyone together while the energy was high and the champagne was flowing.
Hearing the words shared during this relaxed part of the day made the celebration feel even more personal and emotional.

Let’s Eat, Drink, and be Merry
As guests then moved into the candlelit reception room for dinner, the atmosphere shifted beautifully into that cosy Irish country house warmth that makes Castle Durrow weddings so memorable.
The room was glowing with soft golden lighting, elegant table settings, and the gentle hum of anticipation as everyone awaited the couple’s grand entrance.
When Aisling & John entered to their favourite song, the energy in the room lifted instantly — cheers, applause, and huge smiles filling the space.
You could feel the excitement and love from every corner of the reception room as they made their way through their guests, soaking in the moment together.
It was one of those entrances that felt completely electric yet deeply personal at the same time.
The evening continued with the cutting of the cake — a simple but joyful moment that always marks the true beginning of the celebration.
Surrounded by laughter, clinking glasses, and the warm glow of candlelight, it felt like one of those memories that will be talked about for years to come.
From there, the night flowed effortlessly into dancing, celebration, and a packed dancefloor full of unforgettable moments.

Dancing, Sparklers & Celebration
The night ended exactly as it should — a packed dancefloor, huge smiles, and sparklers lighting up the autumn evening.
From start to finish, this Castle Durrow wedding was a perfect reflection of Aisling & John: warm, genuine, elegant, and full of heart.

Michelle is truly outstanding at what she does, and we feel incredibly lucky to have had her capture our day. Highly, highly recommend!
